Mark Martin

Development Director

Mark Martin joined Project HOPE Foundation as Development Director in November 2009. His areas of responsibilities include major events, donor gifts and grant opportunities within the community. He received a bachelor’s degree in History and a minor in Business from Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina.  Presbyterian College taught a model of living - "While we live, we serve" - that resonated to him.

After a career in sales and marketing, he was excited to enter the nonprofit world, offering a level of fulfillment in making a difference and helping those in the community.

He appreciates and loves his family time very much. He has been married to Dana since 2001. They have four beautiful children, three of whom are presently enrolled as “typical” students in the inclusion-based classes at Hope Academy. Mark and Dana are so thankful for the Hope Academy philosophy and the academic instruction provided by the special teachers at Hope.

Mark’s favorite activities include exercise, leisure family time outdoors and coaching soccer for his children. Additionally, the family are members of the community of Grace Church Pelham Road Campus and so appreciative of their faith.

Suzanne Hyman

Operations Director

Suzanne joined Project HOPE Foundation as Director of Operations in October 2014. Working closely with Project HOPE Executive Directors Susan and Lisa, she supports successful implementation, integration and expansion of current Project HOPE programs and services, as well as coordination of future strategic initiatives.

Suzanne brings 25 years of experience from the national non-profit world, serving the American Heart Association for 14 years and more recently the American Cancer Society/American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) for 11 years. Her last role was Legislative Analyst for the 15 states in ACS CAN’s Southern Region, where she provided research, analysis, training, coaching, and guidance on a wide-range of health and nonprofit policy issues. For many years she worked directly with grassroots advocacy and has first-hand knowledge of coalition building, strategic planning and lobbying. During her work with the American Heart Association, she also spent several years as state-wide consultant for the American Heart Walk.

Suzanne has a Master's degree in Anthropology from the University of Tennessee and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina.

She and her husband Thom Mobley are the proud aunt and uncle of three nephews and a niece. They have served as long-time volunteers for Project HOPE, and were honored to receive the 2012 “It’s For the Kids” award.

Josh Hyman

Project Specialist

Josh grew up in Woodruff, SC and acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC. After completing his collegiate baseball career and graduating in 2014, Josh became a teacher and coach for 2 years before joining the Project Hope staff. 

He has been involved with Project Hope since its inception, and realized he wanted to make a difference in the Autism community.  Josh's favorite part of his job is getting to interact with the staff and kids that make Project Hope Foundation a great place to work.

Hobbies: Golf, cooking, sports, and having fun doing anything with his wife, Paige.

Elaine Van Hook

Project Specialist

Elaine came to Hope when her children started at Hope Academy in 2007 and instantly found a home! She became a key volunteer for the first three years at Hope before joining the staff in 2010. You will find Elaine here and there supporting the events, projects, and technology needs of the school and foundation.

Elaine is a graduate of Trenton State College in NJ where she received an Engineering Science degree. Elaine worked for 5 years with Conference and Meeting Services at Trenton State College coordinating their summer camp and conference program.  After working as an Industrial Engineer for 3 years, a job relocation moved her to Greenville.  After spending 5 years working as an engineer and production manager, Elaine took time off to raise her family.

Elaine has been married to Neal since 1997 and has two children, Patrick and Rachel; the family also includes two cats, Flopsy and Cottontail, and dog, Maggie.

When not busy with work, Elaine enjoys fellowship at Brookwood Church; camping, biking, kayaking, or hiking with the family; Paleo cooking and baking; reading; and puzzles of any kind.

Mary Evan Giles

Administrative Assistant

Mary Evan was born in Greenwood, SC and raised between there and Greenville. She has a Bachelors Degree in Mass Communications and Theater from Lander University, where she was active in several organizations, including Baptist Collegiate Ministries and Alpha Psi Omega (President).  

When not working, Mary Evan is very active in the upstate theater community: performing, directing, choreographing and working with different youth theater programs!
