January was an eventful month for Academy 3. Here are some of the things we did last month:
~We learned about silhouettes, foreground, background, and middle ground in Art.
~In Science, we studied the different states of matter—solid, liquid, and gas—and conducted experiments to see these states firsthand.
~In Social Studies we studied types of transportation and Martin Luther King, Jr.
~We continued practicing telling time, counting mixed groups of coins, adding, subtracting, and collecting data in Math. We also began discussing three-dimensional shapes.
~In Language Arts, we learned about vowel teams and how to identify nouns and verbs. We also practiced writing out the date and following basic punctuation rules.
~We celebrated Joshua and Gracie’s birthdays. Both their families spent an afternoon with us to make crafts in honor of their students.
~We celebrated the 100th day of school by writing numbers 1-100, counting and comparing groups of 100 items, and writing about “when I am 100 year old…” in our journals.
