bridging the gap

Bridging the Gap fills a void in services by providing transitional classrooms that teach children with autism to learn in a group setting. Many children with autism who have received therapy in a 1:1 setting need direct instruction in how to participate successfully in a classroom environment. This unique program addresses that need while also providing individual ABA therapy during the day for students, preschool through high school.

Hope Academy provides mainstream elementary classrooms that successfully serve both children with autism and their neurotypical peers. By limiting class size, increasing staff, individualizing curriculum, and implementing behavioral methodology, Hope Academy allows all students to thrive. The Bridging the Gap and Hope Alive Junior classroom models function under the umbrella of Hope Academy.

Hope Alive Junior uses applied behavior analysis therapy principles to build strengths and address challenges. This program recognizes that a high school diploma is not the only measure of a successful life. Instead, clients learn to care for themselves, to connect with others, and to complete tasks independently. Daily community outings enable the students to practice skills that improve the quality of life of both the child and the family.

This intensive one-on-one Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy program serves over 200 children with autism on a daily basis. Most children receive 25-40 hours every week of individualized therapy, typically in one of our clinics with options for as-needed home-based and community-based sessions.  Each child's individualized ABA program is overseen by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.  Our data-based process results in outstanding outcomes.

Virtual Hope targets individuals who have the ability to earn a diploma/GED but do not thrive in a traditional school setting.  Additionally, this program recognizes that long-term success requires more than academic achievement.  Consequently, time is delegated for honing communication, organizational and social skills. The original program used charter school on-line curriculum but has now shifted to a GED-based curriculum to allow more flexibility.
