Teacher: Mr. Phil
Virtual Hope Learning Coach
Message from the Teacher:
It is my pleasure to be the facilitator of learning for our Virtual Hope learning environment. Our classroom attempts to nurture each student as a unique individual. Singular learning styles, strengths, interests, and learning-transfer opportunities all combine to become a part of each student's prescriptive curriculum. The educational process of our classroom also attempts to incorporate learning objectives that can have immediate and relevant transfer to real-life skills and challenges.
I believe that any effective learning experience is one that is constantly adapting and evolving, unfolding to respond to the changing needs and priorities of each student.
With all of these foundational premises in place, we try to enter each school day with the eye of a lifelong learner who realizes that "Knowledge is Power."
My education includes a BA from Presbyterian College with a double major in English and Education. I also have a Masters degree in English Education from Converse College. I have taught in a wide variety of classroom settings from fourth grade to college level English. My coaching positions have included football, wrestling, weight training, tennis and volleyball. I believe that my education and varied teaching experiences continue to allow me to adjust effectively to the individualized learning needs of my students.
