Monday Message 2/28/2011

2/28/11

We wanted to extend a gracious thank you to all of you who participated, cheered, attended, and dined at Spirit Week activities last week.  Mauldin High students and advisors were so energized by the amount of involvement from our families.  On behalf of the entire HOPE family, THANK YOU!!!

Our next event is the Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Brunch on Friday, March 4 from 10:30 – noon.  Please let Christine Peebles (458-8441 or grandparents@projecthopesc.org) know if you are able to help by providing food, setting up or cleaning up for this event.  We sent a letter home with details so please look for it.  Thank you to everyone who has signed up so far.  We are still in need of hot breakfast items (casseroles, etc.)

Science Fair for Academy 5 is Thursday and Friday of this week.  Projects are due Thursday and are setup in the CLC Gym.  Parents and families can visit from 3:30 - 6:30 pm to view the presentations.  Please pickup your students at 3:30 even if you plan to return later for the science fair.  Science Fair displays are left setup overnight to be presented again the next day during the Grandparents' and Special Friends' Brunch.  Projects will be taken home on Friday afternoon.

Yearbook photos were taken last week.  We will have a makeup day for those students that were out.  We'll let you know when that is scheduled.   If you would like to purchase a yearbook, please return the order form by March 6.

The semester deadline for turning in BoxTops for Education is coming up.  Please send in any you have by Wednesday.

The students of Academies 3-5, Virtual Hope, and Hope Alive will attend a day at YMCA’s Camp Greenville on March 10.  We are chartering a bus to transport Academy 3, 4, and 5 students.  We will depart promptly at 8:30am.  We will provide additional details as we have them.

We will be in school on April 1 and 4 to make up for the snow days.  Our last day of school will remain May 27.  We have an additional 30 minutes of teaching time in our daily schedule so we do not need to make up the third snow day.

As always, please let us know if you have any thoughts, comments, or concerns.  Have a great week.

Susan and Lisa
