For Volunteers

For Volunteers

Volunteers are vital to the success of the Hope Academy and its programs. Throughout the year, volunteers are needed for both ongoing programs and annual events.

To learn more about volunteering at the Hope Academy, feel free to contact us or fill out our volunteer form.

Ongoing Programs:

For these programs, volunteers work with the children on a consistent basis throughout the school year.  Even if you are short on time, you can still help out with one of these programs.  We will work around your schedule to be as flexible as possible.

  • Weekly physical education programs
  • Tutoring and reading programs
  • Mentoring programs for children of all ages
  • Social outings for children with autism

Weekly physical education programs offer the children of the Hope Academy the opportunity to learn healthy living habits, as well as important values such as sportsmanship and self-esteem.  Volunteers are needed to plan and to lead these programs.

Although the class sizes are small, additional one-on-one tutoring is beneficial for the students.

Mentoring programs offer the children an opportunity to develop a close relationship with another adult outside of the school and their homes.

Children with autism require special training to help them develop their social skills.  We are looking for volunteers to take children with autism on social outings to practice skills learned in a one-on-one setting.

Annual Events:

The following events are held once every year, providing a perfect opportunity for volunteering for a single event.

  • Open House - Each year Hope Academy hosts an Open House on the Thursday before Labor Day to allow preschool parents to meet with teachers and see more of the school. Volunteers are needed to watch siblings while parents participate in this event.
  • Hope Fest - Hope Fest is a fall festival that takes place each year on the weekend before Halloween.  It typically runs from 3pm to 7pm and includes games, crafts, hayrides, and food.  Volunteers are needed to decorate that afternoon, to work various booths that evening, and to help clean up after the festival.
  • Luminaries - Each December, Hope Academy sells luminaries to various subdivisions for the holiday season.  Volunteers will help to put luminary kits” (bags of sand and candles) together.
  • Holiday Program - The Holiday program is put on by the children of Hope Academy on the Thursday before Winter Holiday break.  We need volunteers to baby-sit the younger siblings so that parents may watch the program.
  • Hope Invitational Golf Tournament - The Hope Invitational Golf Tournament is the foundation's largest fundraising event.  It generally falls in mid-April.  In addition to sponsors and participants, volunteers are needed to set up the course, to proctor holes during the tournament, to serve lunch and dinner, and to help with the auction..read more
