1st/2nd grade classroom

Meet the Teachers

Lead Teacher, Mrs. Sheryl

I am looking forward to another year teaching at Hope Academy!  I have a BA in Psychology from New College of Florida and a MA in Teaching from Columbia International University.  All of my teaching experience has been in multi-age classrooms which allow me to differentiate the instruction to the needs of students.  I enjoy making learning hands-on, relevant and personal for each child.  Our classroom is rarely quiet as we conduct experiments, work in small groups, and find new ways to “show off our learning.”  You’ll see that learning is an active, and not passive, experience in our classroom.

I am married to Robert and have two sons, Evan and Sean.  When not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family and pets (2 dogs and 2 cats at last count), gardening, reading, hiking, and cooking.

Assistant Teacher, Ms. Lucia

This is my first year as the 1st/2nd grade assistant teach at Hope Academy and I am so excited for this coming school year! I have a BA in Public Health from the University of South Carolina. I am currently a distance-ed graduate student at the University of South Carolina working on my master's degree in Speech Language Pathology. Before working at Hope Academy, I worked for Hope Reach as an Line Therapist for almost 2 years.

When I am not working or taking exams, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, playing golf, and going to Zumba. My pride and joy is my dog, Zara.
